Here is a video clip from one of last year’s North American League open tryout camps:
The team is now part of the Pacific Association which will play games against teams in Hawaii and Arizona. In order to perform well at these minor league baseball tryouts you must be “gritty”. Notice that the field wasn’t in great condition, and often the tryouts take place in the morning – a time when many players right out of college aren’t used to bringing their “A” game.
The takeaway is that you must be ready to perform at all hours, and on sub-optimal fields, because you will face that when you are in the minor leagues.
